Matrix Server Info

• You can join my Matrix Space here and join my public lobby room here
• Check the status of my server at status.themossymouse.com
• If you join, please say hi in the lobby, so I can add you to the appropriate private room.
• Feel free to make your own private rooms and private messages between other users. As long as the the chats are marked as encrypted, the server itself cannot read the messages (including me I can’t read them either), only you and the people in the room or DM.
• I created a video tutorial on how to sign up and use my Matrix server, video available upon request.
• To sign up for Matrix, you can either create an account with the default domain matrix.org or you can use my domain themossymouse.com. You can only sign up for my domain from the Element web app, but after you signup, you can use whichever client you like.
• When you join a room for the first time, especially large ones, expect it to take around sixty seconds. My server is working hard to pull the data from the other servers you are joining. After the initial loading of the room, everything should load and move really fast.
• My public lobby room is unencrypted and public so don’t say anything crazy or I will remove you from the room. You can say whatever you want in the private encrypted rooms though.
• I have setup my domain to work with the Element X Android and iOS app, which is the client I recommend using for mobile.
• Please contact me if any issues arise!
• If you signed up for username@themossymouse.com, be warned that joining new rooms can take up to 5 minutes. My server is working hard to get a bunch of information for you. After joining a room, all you see is a circle spinning, let it sit. Minimize the client you’re using and come back in five minutes. After that, your room will load and everything will be working fast. The initial joining of large rooms of dozens to hundreds of members takes a lot of work. My server is doing this for you. DO NOT REFRESH.
