Mumble

The Mossy Mouse Mumble Server

  • The server address is mumble.themossymouse.com

  • The port is the default Mumble port, 64738.

  • Password can be acquired by contacting me.

  • I also have created a video tutorial showing how to download, install, and configure the Mumble client, and how to join my server. Video shared upon request.

  • The server will go down approximately once a month automatically to update its certification. The reset process should take no longer than sixty seconds. If the server is ever down for longer than a minute, please let me know.

  • If any issues arise with connectivity or server access, please contact me

  • If you’re having issues with robotic audio, make sure your client settings are setup properly. The mumble settings can get a little confusing. I will be making a Mumble client configuration guide showing my settings, until then, I unironically recommend using the AI in google search to give you optimal settings. The audio wizard is super confusing and I don’t recommend using it. Try resetting everything back to defaults, and make sure your noise suppression is using RRNoise instead of Speex (RRnoise is more modern.)

  • If you would like me to create you a private room for you and whoever, please let me know. Before you do so, make sure while connected to the server, that you right click your own username and click register. This will make your username permanent on the server, so fix it beforehand if needed. By registering, I can create private rooms that only certain usernames can access.

  • This is sort of a public and private server mix. It is password only so that only people who are given the password can join. You can invite anybody to the server, I have it pretty locked down so nobody should be able to grief it. You are allowed to invite anybody you like.

  • You can use the server as much as you want, no restrictions. Mumble uses very little resources on both the client and server side so go crazy on it. It would be impossible to use too much.

  • The text chat does work, however I have it restricted to a 280 character max limit. The server never remembers your chats, it simply sends them to other users. The chats are only visible by the people currently in the room, and once somebody leaves, they will lose all the chats. It’s great if you’re both in a call together sharing a website link, not so great for sharing stuff out of the call. I’ve also turned off using HTML in the chat and have restricted the use of images as anti-griefing measures.
